Post subject:  Debadged Question...

I've read about many of you in your sigs, that your KJ is debadged. I've also seen a few pics of rigs that are debadged. I love the nice, clean look. I suddenly feel the need to have mine done...

How do I go about this? Who can do it? Where can it be done? What is the process? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance! :D

any one can do it...its not hard to do...and you will always remember your first time....

If you have a hair dryer just heat up the emblem (not super hot , you can tell when it starts to peel off good) and pull off, or use a piece of fishing line to slide in behind the letters and sort of saw off. Goo Be gone, and other things like that take off the residual left behind, then wax good afterwards. Doesnt take long at all to do.

Once again, thank you Mr. Mudd! I appreciate the information very much! I should have just sent you a PM, instead of creating a whole new thread.

I'm recovering from a surgery I had last week and will be out from work for probably all of January. Now I have a project! Thanks again!

You can always sell your badge, too

after you take the badges off MiniDevil they are trash, just cheap rubberery plastic stuff, chrome peels off while youre doing it so no resale value

PaU yep there you go something to keep you busy for an hour or so, taking them off, waxing a little. Recovering from any surgery is NO fun at all! Take care

I was easy to do...fishing line and fingernails  Just be aware that depending on the age of your vehicle's exterior, if you debadge, the surface of the clearcoat under the removed emblem might be noticeable in comparison to the rest of your vehicle (due to acid rain wear, highway grit, etc.) I mention this because I RE-badged my hood emblem back in fall and no matter how much Goof-Off I used, the clearcoat under the emblem remained 'glassy perfect' while you could see an obvious difference (you could see the "Jeep" letters that were once there on the hood) if you have a newer year I would disregard this advice though, mine's a black '03 ((and ya know know how easy it is to spot any flaws on black!))

Speaking of debadging, funny story... I use to drive an ex-Kansas City police car, an '86 Dodge Diplomat. I miss that car for the record. Anyway, I was pulled over and ticketed years ago. The left fender was missing, probably due to old age and dried up glue. When the officer returned with the ticket in hand it was written up as a "Dodge Salon"... apparently he had seen the model trim line emblem on the passenger door panel - Salon being the "base model". LOL.

I have "debadged everything from 53 International pickups , 55 Chevys, my 49 Ford is also since it is all dechromed now  If you dont know what I am driving then youre not a car nut like I am, so not that I am ashamed its just something people do. Back in the 30s and 40s they started taking fenders off, lowering, chopping and channeling, all a part of making the vehicle yours.
As far as mine I have Pixels 4 Wheel Drive decals on, plus a Only in a Jeep spare tire cover , so not embarressed just dont like for mine to look like every other Black Jeep Liberty out there.

maybe it's just that I do body work and have to notice every last little detail and have to keep cars looking original or customers complain. Anytime I see "badges" missing, I think it had work done on it. I have no problem with customizing, I hate everday vehicles that you can't tell apart in a parking lot.

and by your sig. I don't think that debadging is what separates your libby from the others.

i recently took mine off and all are reuseable... none of them peeled or broke or anything. new double sided tape is all they need and they could go on a car

i used dental floss to get mine off btw. it breaks so make sure to get 2 spools of 40 yards... thats MORE THAN enough but better to be safe then sorry
