| Post subject: | turn signal question |
Yesterday I flipped on my turn signal while turning onto my street. As the wheel straightened out and the signal clicked off I glanced into my rear view mirror and saw my cargo area dome light flash on then off. This does not happen every time but I have noticed flashes of light from the headlights before as well. At first I just thought I was seeing things but apparently not. Have any of you guys ever had this problem? And do you think it is something I should be concerned about? I would hate to have everything blow out or catch fire. |

I would be concerned as you have a short in there somewhere feeding back through the system. Do you have trailer wiring hooked in? If so may be a place to start. They make a tester that you can hook in and trace down the short. It may take a while to trace it down though, but I would check it out for sure!!! |

i'm pretty sure i've heard of others with a similar problem. i believe in most cases it was the turn signal stalk. the headlights and cargo light and turn signals are all controlled from that location, i'd start there. i'm sure someone that has first hand experience will chime in. |

I'd suspect the multi-function switch. |

It is the multifunction switch. DC has had MANY problems with it. It might have been recalled. The 02 KJ that the wife drives did the same thing. the dome lights would come on at their will and it was anoying. There are tech articles and other posts on how to change it out. IF it is not covered under your warantee and you do it yourself, BE VERY CAREFUL!!! You MUSt diconect the battery negative terminal first and let it sit for a few or 15 minutes so the charge on the air bag capacitors is disapated. then attempt to change it out. BUT seak other info because you could fire the air bag while working on it. |
