its a variable geometry turbo...basically, off of the start, the vanes on the impeller move so that it takes less exhaust gas to move it...thus reducing turbo lag...then as the rpms of the turbo increase, the fins move out so as to provide greater greater boost and total performance ... Porsche uses these on their cars. ford uses dual turbos to achieve the same thing |

Works great by the way runs 5-10 lbs of boost most of the time max seems to be about 15 (scangauge says 20-30 but it adds atmosphere) |

The turbo body looks the same, but I don't remember seeing a vacuum solenoid on my CRD. Is that from the European 2.5, perhaps (or am I crazy)? Dan |
