So this monring on my way to the gym I am sitting in stopped traffic and BAM!!!! I get rear ended. I jump out look at my rear end and cant find any damage. I took behind me and a black lincon navigator with the front grill distroyed, head light busted and hood bent. I had to stop my self from laughing. After further looking I had a piece of hid grill in my spare tire and my tail gate got bent in so that the bottom of my rear tire in touching my bumper. The cop had to actually ask if I had any damage. In the end the cop ruled in my favor and that it was his fault. So all the damage will be fixed by insurance. But I am proud to say....KJ 1 Lincon Navigator 0

So what can I buy with the insurance money.....Any nice bumpers out there? Rock lizard maybe? with tire carrier?

Glad you and the KJ are alright. You should get a sticker for your new bumper that says, Navigator crash test vehicle.

The nose was down on the navigator because he was trying to stop. If it was bumper to bumper action things probably would have been uglier.

Id go with a new rear or front also if you get enough, but they can pay for themselves real quick

i had almost the same thing happen to me... the total damage was about $2300. I got my RL rear out of the deal, and supersliders too! now the body damage is a whole nother story!

i have been goign to physical therapy since June 07, had my first round, of the supposed 9, back, neck, hip, and knee injections, and not to mention the constant pain everyday, all day, that the stupid woman has caused me, and my mother, my financial advisor and lawyer told me the other day that we are going to be making a ton of money on this because we are taking it to court, b/c apparently i need to have a disc replaced in my back or something like that!

so there ya go!

A kind lady in a Yukon kissed my bumper about a year ago. Make sure the body shop checks the spare tire carrier REAL close. Mine appeared to be fine, but upon closer inspection the entire tire carrier frame was bent. Approx 1,400 bucks from a 10-15mph hit!

A year ago, I went to retrieve my camper from the fairground. (The county fairground allows winter storage in its barns - my camper stays out of the snow, and the fairground gets a little extra dough, so it's a win/win situation.)

Anyway, on or about the 3rd or 4th Saturday in March, you need to get your stuff out, or you get charged a daily fee, which is expensive. The day before the pull-out, all campers, 5th wheels, sports cars, boats, etc., are pulled out into the parking lots for removal. The campers are all angled, so all you have to do is pull ahead of your camper, back up, connect, and go, which I did. EXCEPT:

A woman decided to drive the wrong way through, just as I backed up toward my camper (When you are in angled parking, it kind of creates a heck of a blind spot, if someone comes from behind, going the wrong way). The end result was her rear door got moved in almost a foot. She went to the exit, on the other side of the fairgrounds to wait for me, since the police were there, and we could exchange insurance.

Here's the kicker: I threw away the WRONG proof-of-insurance. While I was frantically searching for my proof-of-insurance, the county sheriff drove up, to see if I had a problem. I told him I was still connecting the wiring, and he said, "No problem. We'll be waiting for ya at the gate". Ten minutes later, I gave up and went out to the gate, to face the music.

When I explained the problem to the sheriff, he took my information and...........nothing. I was on private property. I don't HAVE to have insurance on private property. However, he told me I'd better be very careful driving home, because if I got stopped for ANYTHING, I'd be up the creek. Needless to say, I drove 55 mph, on the interstate, all the way home........... :D

Now, I told you THAT story, so I could this one: The damage to my Libby? The spare tire was moved in a fraction of an inch. The body shop, when I arrived to have it repaired, got their biggest guy, and had him pull it back out. They wouldn't even charge me for the time. :-)r

Moral of the story? Our Libby's are TOUGH!!!

Get it right... spinners are so 2001. Now, they're "dubbed". (I actually saw an escalade with a tiny chrome script "DUB" under the Cadillac logo).

My spare got rear-ended and bent the tailgate in so that my spare tire touched the bottom of the gate or bumper. The spare frame was good but the gate is bent in at the bottom of where the spare frame bolts into the gate. Instead of going through a lot of trouble and money to fix it, I fixed it myself by just putting acouple of washers on the bottom of the three bolts that hold the spare tire on. This will bring the tire out away from the gate so that you can have the spare looking level again. Easy fix and it's not even noticable that the gate is bent in alittle under the spare.

245 70 x16 is too big?? I am running a 245 75 X16 MTR and have all kinds of room. Trying flipping the bracket over that may space it out enough, or put some washers between the bracket and the body to space it out some.

Yea, thats odd that the tire wont fit. Ive never heard of anyone having troubles fitting that tire on the gate.

If you cant find anything wrong, just use some washers to push it out like tom said.

will do. I know that they make those bracket extentions and I know that some people do have them,. I just got off the phone with JCWhitney.com and they dont sell anything like that. I'm gonna try flipping the bracket around. The please taht fixed my KJ was an honest and good place but they may have just made an error. Can someone take a picture of the orientation for there spare tire bracket to make sure mine matches up? If it's not a problem for you I mean. That weould be a great help.....Thanks guys

The spare tire bracket will fit on either way, just take it off flip it over and try it that way, if that doesnt work get some large washers ans shim it out, still strange a 245 70 series tire hits though
