Anyone know anything about this? I think there should be a click sound from the contactor or solenoid to allow you to shift from park. I'm not hearing it, could that have to do with it? the key is stuck between ON and Lock. I can start it but it won't come out. I think the computer thinks the transmission is in gear.

You can try to override it by removing the PRNDL Bezel and pushing the button manually. If yo still can't get the key out, take the Jeep to the dealership because this has been a problem in the past

Shifter assembly is probably whacked. Try pushing forward on the shifter REAL hard until you hear a click. it'll be a b*tch to get back out of park, though.

Sounds like the shift interlock is messed up.

I still to this day have this same exact problem with mine.

It is from a stretched shift interlock cable. Just never got around to replacing it.

All you need to do is push, not hit, the shift lever forward when it is in park. You will hear a little click and then you will be able to turn the key all the way back to pull it out.

I always have to warn people about this when they drive my rig.

Also this is not an item covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. I had it to two different stealerships and both told me the same thing.

Hope this helps.

That's total BS that this part isn't covered under warranty. If it came from the factory with that cable than by the definition of bumper to bumper - this part should be replaced. If the dealer tells me something like that I usually call up the Chrysler complaint line and then the issue gets resolved.

I can kinda see where they are coming from that it is not covered under waranty. Its a cable, cables stretch, is the e-brake cable covered under warranty?? Don't think so.

Anyways it is not that big of a deal. Its not like I am hammering on the shifter to get it to fully engage park, so not a biggie for me to make a stink at Chrysler.

Not being able to get the key out of the ignition is a issue. It's fine that we view the issue differently, but if I paid for my vehicle to operate normally and they didn't honor their end of the deal, I'd be making a big old stink about it for sure.

Does anyone know how to adjust the cable? I removed the console and see the cable in question but I have not an idea what to do with it. I have the FSM and it tells me- page 21-381 "3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Be sure ignition key cylinder is in the LOCK position. Cable will not adjust correctly in any other position.". OK how can I do that when my key is stuck between lock and run/start? Maybe I should ask about the key positions. From the bottom is accessory, lock, run, start. Correct?
