| Post subject: | How to unsquish my rear upper shock mounts? |
Anyone have any suggestions? I have the 2.5" full Rustys since last year (with the ARB) and just ordered some OME927's for up front to help hold up the ARB beast. When I installed the Rusty rear shocks I squeezed in as many washers as I could but of course I had to compress the shock mount some to get it to be quiet. Well now the right rear is acting up and im thinking I should just replace the shocks with the 17004 Ranchos but i'm worried about how to expand the shock mount to accommodate the Ranchos....? Any suggestions? |

Best thing to do is to get a bolt with some washers and some nuts. Put the bolt through the shock mount hole(with washer if needed) and thread two nuts on the bolt(with washers if needed). Bottom out both nuts on each end of the bolt and use those nuts to spread it back open. Works like a charm. |

That is exactly what I did Jeepster! It did work like a charm. I blew one of my rustys rear shocks out and replaced them with the ranchos! Made a hell of a difference! Mike |

Does anyone know what the size and thread is for the upper shock bolt? I have access to all this stuff at work so I would like to just bring it home with me today. Shocks get delivered here this AM!! I guess I could just use 1/4 diameter and not have to worry about damaging the threads of the PemNut in the shock mount. Most likely that is a 3/8 or 7/16 bolt |
