| Post subject: | Front Drive Shaft CV Boot |
While removing my skid plates to get to the tranny and transfer case so that I can get the tranny serviced, I noticed a lot of greasse on the tranny near the TC front driveshaft CV joint. I looked further at the boot and noticed it was completely torn and separated from the joint. I have search the site looking for answers but have not been able to find anything. Is this boot replaceable? I havent heard any odd noises coming from the TC or the DS. There is grease flung all around so I know its not being lubed properly. I can remove the ds for service ans still drive the Jeep, correct? Does anyone this this would be covered under the 7/70 warranty? If anyone else has experienced this, any advice would be appreciated. D |

Got a call back from the dealership and the front ds is covered under the 7/70 powertrain warranty. I have to pay $100 for the repair, but beat the $350+ for a new shaft from the local parts store (Napa was the cheapest around, plus they give me a discount). |

You must have a better dealer then the dorks I have delt with. They told me the only parts covered under the powertrain warranty are "internally lubricated parts" |

They have usually been very good to me. I have to call them back now as I have discovered the tranny is leaking from somewhere near the pan or possibly the rear of the tranny. After I took the skids off so I could get the tranny serviced, the Jeep has started to mark it's territory with what appears to be tranny fluid or gear oil. |

If you want to get nit-picky the front drive-shaft is internally lubricated. |

I quit going to the dealer after the first time. They were so worthless. |
