Blind Spot mirror shape/placement

I want to get a couple of those little stick on blind spot mirrors, but I wasn't sure what size or shape would look best on the KJ mirror. (2003 model year...so 02-07 design). I am a school bus driver and absolutely love all the mirrors on the buses, so I would like a bit more visibility when I drive my Jeep!

I know they make round ones, and ones that are more rectangular. I figure as the mirror is kinda small, the smallest size is the best.

If you have any pics of yours I would love to see it!

I know, it's a cheap purchase, but I prefer not to waste my money!

I have the round ones mounted to the outside bottom edge, work great I can watch a car all the way up to where the front end is by my door/ or passenger door, no blind spots. They are only like 2 inch I think, had the more square ones on the Cherokee but didnt like them as much.

Know what you mean about visibilty, used to drive a Peterbilt around and you need all you can get due to stupid cars!!! :roll:

Ditto. The 2" round mirrors mounted at the outer/lower corners. I, too, got used to having them while driving a truck, many years ago, and wouldn't be without them!

2" round. I put mine at the outside top of the mirror. I can't imagine going bigger than 2"...not with these little mirrors.

x4 or whatever on the 2" rounds. They are the first place I look when I look at the mirrors, in fact sometimes I don't bother with the big flat part of the mirror.

I put mine on the upper INSIDE. It seemed to diffuse headlight glare better in this position. PLUS I angle my side mirrors out pretty far anyway (try to see two lanes left and right of jeep). The rounds allow me to see parking spaces and other obstructions close to the body not seen by the flats.

mien are on the outside bottom corners! i love them! no looking over the shoulder anymore

i had the 2 inch round on the bottom inside corner, with no complaints. when i replaced my mirrors i got some square ones with a rounded corner. not sure of the size, but bigger than 2 inches, placed them on the bottom outside and i can see where my rear tires contact the ground! backing up has never been so much fun! :lol:

I found the adjustable ones at Wallymart. I think Auto Zone or Advance had them also. They were only a couple of dollars for 2.

The best way to put them on is to have someone hold it on the rearview mirror in different places while you are sitting in the drivers seat and put them where you like or can see out of them the best. This is from my experience anyway.

Thanks for all the input so far! Looks like the 2" round ones work best for everyone! The idea of having someone hold it in different positions is a great idea!

Hmm...I wonder if they would work on a motorcycle mirror....I have circle mirrors on my bike.....

I've got mine in the same spot. Added bonus, when you're wheelin you can angle those fish eyes down and in to give you a perfect view of your rear tires..... instant spotter for those tight offroad maneuvers!

If you adjust your mirrors right, you don't need these

Lean towards your driver side mirror as close as you can get (sitting similar to how you would sit when you normally drive)... Adjust the mirror so you can just barely see the side of your Jeep...

Do the same thing with the other side..

Voila.

If you do it right, just as cars disappear in your rear mirror, they will appear in your side mirror (and vice versa)

I put convex mirrors on my dual-purpose motorcycle (street-legal dirt bike). They replaced the factory flat circle mirrors and gave a great wide view with no neck craning. One of the cheapest safety upgrades I've ever done.

also, if you want to experiment before setting the "permanent" adhesive, put a little dab of silicone caulk on the back (just a little) and let it set for 30 mins or so before you use it. It holds great against shaking but you can peel it off pretty easily when you need to.

I love these mirrors. Like they said, I don't have to turn my mirrors in to see the tires, nice wider view, work great when towing my trailer and they look just fine on a Freedom Edition!

Just got a set of the adjustables for $3 at the auto parts store. Look and work great! Thanks for the idea of adding spot mirrors to my KJ.
