Does the engine/tranny skid need to come off to do a tranny flush?

Not for the flush, but to change the filter(s) the tranny skid does.

for the 42RLE there is one, for the 45RFE there's two.

How often should they be changed? I only have 42,000 miles but I picked it up at 21,000 (after changing all the other fluids yesterday though, it appears the previous owner did have some stuff changed (plugs and both diffs' oil, at least). I'm just getting the 30,000 service done, though.

I changed the oil and filter at 30k and will do it again at 60k.

Ive never done a flush on a tranny. Dropping the pan every 30k has worked out great on one Jeep that has 164k on it so Ill continue to always do that in my current Jeep.
