Post subject:  Factory Service Manual Question

I am planning on purchasing a factory service manual from Chrysler, but I am not sure if I should go with the book or the CD version. I would appreciate any opinions on which version is better to work with.

Thanks.

they are sold all over ebay...probably 2X cheaper than what the stealership or corporate will charge. just a heads up. I like having the physical manual that you can store in the glove box...you wont always be near a computer.

Pote, he means the service manual, not the owner's manual. The FSM is a much larger book.
Some like the CD version better, but the main drawback for me is you have to have access to the computer. I like to plunk the FSM down on the bumper and refer to it whenever I'm working on something that needs the FSM. I got mine just after I bought the KJ and it's been used many times.

Search around online.

I found complete indexed PDF copies of the 2004 KJ Factory Service Manual, 2004 KJ Parts Manual and 2004 KJ Owner's Manual.

Thanks for the help. I worked up the courage to use the search function again last night and I got lucky with a link to the PDF version. I will use this for now and put the money towards tools and toys for the Jeep.

I found a used service manual from a dealership that closed down online, think it cost about 18 bucks shipped to me , had some updates and shortcuts that had been written in by the mechanics, so pretty handy and I can carry it out to the garage easy or with me anywhere I go!

All I ever find is 02 to 04. I know they changed in 05. How much would be usable on my 05?

Hey guys,

FYI (and take this for what it is worth). There have been some cracking down on trading PDF's of the factory service mannuals. Seems that they want to get paid for copyrighted material, go figure. Just use caution about passing stuff around that belongs to others.

Just a friendly tip. Big Brother has eyes every where. and they are cracking the whip, kicking but and taking names. That is why the links to the service mannuals have been removed from other forums and why there is a warning on this one about doing this stuff.
