Anybody have one of these?

Are they any good and how do you like it?

What features do you like about it?

I don't have the OEM comp so I thought this would be an easy and cool add on.

Reads Trouble Codes
Reads conditions that set the Trouble Code
Clears Trouble Codes
Turns off the "Check Engine" light
Tells you when vehicle is "Ready" to pass OBDII testing
Make and store up to 10 rewritable special codes
to send to the vehicle computer
Fuel Economy
Fuel Rate
Battery Voltage
Coolant Temperature
Intake Air Temperature
Engine Speed (RPM)
Vehicle speed (MPH/KMH)
Manifold Pressure (not available on some vehicles)
Engine Load
Throttle Position
Ignition Timing
Open/Closed Loop
Maximum Speed
Average Speed
Maximum Coolant Temperature
Maximum RPM
Driving Time
Driving Distance
Fuel Used
Trip Fuel Economy
Distance to Empty
Time to Empty
Fuel to Empty

With these gas prices, I figure this would be a good add-on.

Been thinking about getting this but its not that high on my wish list. Great little multi-tasker.

I have the ScanGuage I, best money I ever spent. The Series I is larger without as many bells an whisltes, but it's still great! I like the MPG reading helps my watch my foot on the skinny pedal. As for the other features, after almost a year I'm still every couple of months trying a different configuation as options. But let me put it simply you will not regret this tool . It's GREAT

Rush, what does it tell you on the HP on the KJ?

Do you leave it connected to the KJ so you have multiple trip analyses?

Has it saved you fuel ie. helping you to monitor your driving habits?

BTW, I thought you could get software updates for your unit... can you do that for the I model ie. XGauge and Add a Gauge?

I've never tried to check HP, I do leave it connected to the diagnostic port at all times, yes is does help me keep and eye on my milage. AS for software updates I've never checked. But here is a little help.:

Hope this helps, the Series I doesn't have these options available. So I haven't seen these new options available until you mentioned the new toys. Now I want a new one . But this will go to the top of my new toy list

Rush...or any others that have...do you have any pics of how you mounted it in your KJ? or do you let it dangle? Saw some mounted pics on their site, but no KJ or no reference as to where to route wires and mounting points. thanks in advance...it sure seems like a useful add-on. With all those guages...does it tell me when I need to stop and pee on a long road trip?? LOL

I've got one, I pluged it into my CRD and most of the guages don't work, scan tool said it was my Jeeps fault.

There must be something different about the CRD electronics. I have one in the 3.7 and it works fine. I also plugged it in on the Cutlass and ran it on that car for a couple of weeks and it worked fine.

They are an American Company in Mesa Az and their # is 1-888-433-5664 and you get to talk to a real live person. Maybe they have a fix for the CRD one.

OK, I just got mine just today and hooked it up to my GM cross-over AWD vehicle and it gave me my last trouble code which has been pissing me off for ages. We don't have Autozones or stores that read and clear that stuff where I am at.

I need to play with it more but it tells me the "FUEL USED" trip info, max speed, mpg , fuel mileage, rpms pressures, temps etc...

I also like the battery voltage as I have another car in storage which I keep trying to run to keep the battery alive so I will use it to check on that car too and also the idle rates etc.

I want to test some stuff like gas mileage with my roof rack/ski racks on vs off and also compare against my GPS unit when it states shortest distances.
Also one thing it advertised was you can see a difference on a pick up truck w/ the gate up or down.... lets see this on the KJ comparing mileage for use with racks and w/o and also different tires ie. snows vs AT vs all seasons, 16" vs 17" wheels, tire pressure, air filters etc.

I gotta read the manual and find out what other things this will tell me. I was hoping to see what true HP the 3.7 actually puts out but I don't think it does that

Not sure if we are allowed to hotlink but just kill the space after www.

www. scangauge.com/support/pdfs/SGMan5_0.pdf

It seems like a cool add-on and for the $$, I like the gadgets and added info. It does not require extra power source ie. cig adapter as it draws from the OBDII port.

For the $$$, I think a good portable GPS is more practical for travelling around and off roading but if you want more info on your vehicle and it's performance, it is a great cheap add-on. Plug and play. I gotta hook it up on the KJ and may get another for the other vehicles once I get a better assesment.

Screen is very basic but I don't think there is anything else like this on the market. I wish it did more ie. color screen, GPS, bluetooth sync to my cell, able to modify the CPU, back up camera and tire pressure monitoring but it will be allot more LOL

I went to the UK page and even found these cool toys for racers where you can graph real time your performance:

Just so you know: clearing the code doesn't fix the problem. If the problem is still there, and the code will come back until you fix it. What is the code?

Agreed, the GM code for my newer Chevy Equinausea is P0171 which I have been trying to check out as I understand may be 'system too lean bank 1' which may mean my MAF is dirty, vacuum leak, dirty fuel filter etc. The code comes up intermittently and then goes away.... sometimes upon gas fill up and other times just out of the blue ie. when I drive it hard.

Again, I would have had to take it to a shop and pay to just to get a diag scan so I bought this ScanGauge instead of paying some shop/stealership to scan it. Sometimes it does not start and I hafta crank it several times before it starts... poopy GM...(the Equinox got one of lowest satisfaction ratings in Consumer Reports for cross-over vehicles) shoulda got another KJ :x

I am gonna put a new air filter in and see if there are any more codes, then the fuel filter and if not fixed then, I am going to the stealership to check the O2 sensor.

I fisrt tried setting it on the Dash next to my radar detector, which I mounted using a rear veiw mirror mount kit. I set it on the dash with a no slip pad after a couple trys I decided that wouldn't work. So I ran the cable under the dash to the drivers side and set it now with the same non skid pad in the front drivers side corner of the dash. It seem to be working fine there. During some sun light situations I find it difficult to read, I'm considering moving it higher up near the drivers side roof pillar with some form of "L" bracket or really industrial velcro to mount it to the roof by the sun viser. From my research the series II would not have this problem since you have more options as to color back ground ect. the Series I , I purchased in July from a LOST member whose girl friend had given him a Series II for his birthday. After all this time I'm still playing with different setting the only one I keep all the time is Volt's and MPG. The others I keep playing with from week to week. The only warning is set it so you don't get your self watching it while your driving. Bad for safe driving. Thats why I'm considering up by the sun visor easier to glance at and change back the road. I just saw something that appeared to do the same thing on Stylin Concepts for $349.00. As I have said before even after you buy one it will take at least a year to get everything under your belt , not due to difficultys but due to sooo many options and of coarse the best is instant check on your engine codes that alone is worth the price all the other goodys are icing on the cake. If anybody is interested I will happily sell you mine for $100.00 + shipping and then I'll turn out and order a series II

Post subject:  reading the codes?

Does anyone know how the codes are read? is it on the display? or do you have to check them on a CD? How many cars can I check? Do they charge for extra cars?
Can I down load the data and save it on a my PC?

From what I have been reading it probably is the sensor but I'm not going to pull all apart to find out.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Post subject:

It simply displays the trouble code and you need to determine what those codes mean for the make & model of your vehicle. Check as many vehicles as you want '96 and newer...

Pull apart a sensor??? Don't know what you are talking about... just hook up to your ODBII and that's it.

Post subject:  Cost

OKay, I am still playing around with the ScanGauge thing and one of it's features is that you can put in the cost of gas per gallon or liter, engine size and the tank capacity and you can display the cost of the trip AS YOU DRIVE

So after I gas up and start the KJ, it shows $0.35 right off the bat and haven't even moved yet... keep driving and see the money rack up like a Taxi Meter....

I usually like to cruise around the block a few times to I try to find a parking spot and watch the $$$ add up. It makes sense when you calc your total cost divided by the amount fuel at fill up.

Holy... makes you really think about the cost of fuel but never really watched it real time as you travel!!
