3.7 Fuel Filter Part #

My dealership believes there is no way to buy the fuel filter besides buying a $485 pump, so would anyone happen to know the part # or another source at a good price?

The pump and the filter are not even the same part. The filter is outside of the tank.

There is a brand out there that has a replacement than the OEM one. Much cheaper, too.

EDIT: What year do you have, if its a 2008, then you have a KK, not sure if its the same part number.

That link shows a picture of an in-line fuel filter and says it is for 02-04 models.

My FSM for the 05 says "the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator are combined within the fuel pump module assembly. They are not serviceable." That is a direct quote from the FSM under 2.4L/3.7L gas - Fuel Delivery page 14-6. So mine is inside the gas tank and not in-line.

So it must be different for different years. Otherwise you have me all confused/and or my FSM is wrong.

Yeah...i don't think the picture is right. But the description does state that it "Replaces Chrysler 52100402AE". But it is only for 2002-04. Not sure what they changed on the 05-07 models.

just trace the fuel line fron the tank to the motor and look for a filter---it will be very obious if there is one, and there will be a chrysler part number on it also.

I think its in the tank. Its not a inline filter.

It's not a traditional inline. I saw that site and read that, kinda believe it's a wrong listing, worth calling though

Its not in the tank, its on top of the tank.

they didnt change, from 02-07 they have the built in regulator and cost over $100 to replace. My manual says the same thing as the 05 one does

Gotta drop the tank, everyone I talk to says wait 'til the pump goes or you want to replace it. To quote my service manual " the inlet fuel filter is attatched to the bottom of the lower section of the fuel pump module which is located inside of the fuel tank." "Note: If the vehicle is not equipped with a fuel pump access cover on the floorpan of the rear cargo area, the fuel tank must be lowered to gain access to the fuel pump module."

But what is the correct part number for those of us that want to change it to avoid future issues?

There's a front filter and an inlet filter the inlet filter is part of the module and can only be purchased as an assembly, according to this service manual I have. Honestly this is not a routine maintenance deal. To get to the access cover (if there) you have to drill out the rivets on the hold-downs so you can remove the carpet and then if there is no access cover? Well that would s__K! Don't know if you can find out the # on line probably best bet would be a Jeep Dealer.
My suggestion and what I'm going to do if and when needed would be to replace the whole shibang while the tank's down including any questionable fuel lines.

The fuel filter is on top of the gas tank,your thinking of the fuel pump mesh sock.The mesh sock is just a "pre-filter" to keep the big stuff out of the pump,the actual fuel filter takes the rest of the junk out of the gas and sits on top of the gas tank.I have replaced my fuel filter twice,just dropped the gas tank about 4"-5" and you have plenty of access to it,no need to rip the interior out to mess up your floor pan by trying to get that access door out.

If I remember I'll get the part# for the fuel filter tomorrow and post after I get off work.
