I always just removed the whole thing. Remove Bottom bolt on #2 and 4 nuts from sway bar brackets and out it comes in one piece.

That is what I thought I would hear. It seemed to me to be the only real way to do it. At the trail I couldn't break the bolts loose so I got a guy that had upper arms the size of my thighs to tackle it. No luck there either. I did think he way going to flip the KJ though! I'll have to spray them down and let them set a couple of days and try again.

Thanks.................Terry

What is the main advantage for disconnecting the sway bar? I thought I read that it didn’t make much difference (improvement) for off-roading.

How does the IFS react to not having the sway bars? Does it mess with how the CV joints act while wheeling? Any binding because of articulation? Problems?

no binding or anything but I haven't seen much difference with or without it. I have yet to try out how discoing the rear does.

I have had my rear bar off for a couple months now. No problems at all. I have read the same comments about the front bar. But, some say it helps and some say it doesn't. I just want to see for myself.

Handles different with the rear swaybar off...a LOT more body roll around corners, but no worse than any other 4x4 I've owned.

I’m sure the type of lift may factor in as well.

I took off my front sway bars on my old 98 TJ and it was a nightmare on the highway. The Jeep's natural urge to wander off road was magnified 10 fold.

I guess, from what others have said, with the Franky II, I can get away without the rear bar. The guy that installed the Franky said I wouldn't need it too. And yes the KJ will wonder all over the highway without the front one on.
