What is the latest news on how Jeep is handling the Liberty window regulator problem? I'm hearing different stories from different dealers and different service writers within the same dealership.

I've heard they are now replacing both the regulator AND window glass. I was also told there is a $100.00 deductible IF you have had the issue in the past, otherwise you pay full price.

Any information on the issue would be appreciated and thanks.

That's great, but it doesn't help me or answer my questions. My Liberty is out of warranty.

i believe the answer your looking for is that there isn't a recall, there is a TSB

so there are 3 options plus a 4th which is modify a regular regulator

1. replace regulator
2. replace with the updated regulator that attaches to the window differently which requires a new window (TSB)
3. attempt to put on 2002 window regulators which depending on the year of your jeep may or may not work

i don't remember the PN of the regulators but all 4 came up to about 370 bucks 250 labor

I had 1 go out under warranty and a second go out last week 3K outta warranty. When I went to the stealership parts guy checked the vin on my '06 and advised of the TSB and "new glass". I asked if the old part was in stock, which it wasn't but he was kind enough to look and found 2 dealers in the Metro area had the old part in stock still, drove down to Castle Rock and picked it up $54. Next time one goes out I'm sure I'll be hosed.

Okay... answered my own question. The service writer gave me a "goodwill" warranty repair. It cost me $100.00 deductible. They also had the window re-tinted at no additional cost to me.

Thanks David at Superstition Springs Chrysler-Jeep in Mesa, AZ!!!

I have bought three new vehicles from them over the years...

- '04 Chrysler Crossfire
- '06 Liberty Sport
- '08 Wrangler X
