Post subject: | Replace/Re-aim fog lights |
Here's a thought that has been bumping around in my noggin for awhile now and I thought I would put it up and see what comes from the post. I have recently installed a Hi Beam/ Low Beam mod that I bought on Ebay. It allows the fog lights to stay on when you switch to high beams. It helps, but the design of the fog light is to spread a low fan-like beam (which is great for fog/snow/heavy rain, but I just want to have better illumination for night rides and back roads). When I have the fogs and Hi Beams on, there is still a band of darkness between the two which is really annoying and sometimes a little unnerving. Is there an after market replacement for the factory fogs? Can I adjust the beam higher (not my first choice for sure). When I get my new bumper this summer, it will have built in driving lights so I am not looking to add any other lights right now (unless I find a killer deal on a light bar ![]() Thoughts and advice will be welcomed. |

One thing you might try is to replace the fog light bulbs. The spread will be similar but you can get more punch out of say, PIAA extreme whites. |

you should have a Torx screw on the Fog lamps (look around the edge) that allows you to adjust up / down |

I am using the PIAA extreme whites. The stock bulb number is 9145, but with a little work with a file you can modify the 9005 bulbs to fit. How-to link - http://www.jeepprojects.com/content.php?article.43 The 9145s are 45 watts and the 9005s are 55 watts. With either bulb, it is a huge improvement over the stock bulbs. I used to have Siverstars and the PIAAs are even brighter. |
