Well I took my jeep in for it's first oil change today. Has about 3400mi on the odometer. When the mechanic checked the oil through the dipstick he said it was "dirty", it did look pretty dark however. Has anyone noticed thier oil pretty dark after changing it when the engine is so new? Is there anything to worry about?

It was really really hard to understand the guy, he was speaking in broken english/pidgin.

Also it was fun watching them wrestle with the oil filter put on at the factory, the whole reason I brought it to them in the first place.

Justin

Probably "dirty" because of the initial wear of the engine. Most likely all of the "rough edges" from the manufacturing process were ground down and passed into the oil.

Yeah I didn't think too much of it when I saw it, except the mechanic kept going off on it. All I understood though was "oil dirty" and "when last change?" lol. Sad thing is, english is probably his native tounge. Hopefully not.
