Im a little curious to know what the self adjusting brake bolt is.
Ive never heard of it.

When I did my lift, I undid the self adjusting brake bolt on accident, since that caliper seems to be dragging and it is harder to turn the rotor by hand than it is the other side, however you can still do it. I'd just say it's a few lbs more effort. How do I correct this? Dave |

forgot the exact name, but dad said it controlled the brakes self adjusting featurue.. Just went out and retorqued everything, seems a little better. it's the two 12mm bolts on the brake. I believe Haynes refered to them as mounting bolts. |

Caliper Slides? If you over tightend them to the mounting tab - the caliper might not be able to slide freely over the rotor causing it to drag. Or at least that's how I remember a different system working. To date - I'm too lazy to do my own 20 minute brake job. |

Uh, are you sure the brakes are dragging? Because when you lift your Jeep, it toes WAY in, and it will feel like it's working twice as hard to move forward. Get your KJ aligned and you won't have this problem, more than likely. there is NO brake adjustment for disks, and a lift would not cause the brakes to be dragging. What are the exact symptoms? |

What year do you have? Front or rear ? ( where you did this) Have no idea what you are talking about but yes if you did the lift and haven't aligned it like tbird said it will take twice as much power to move it. As far as grabbing the wheels and turning one may turn easier than the other, you have so much stuff in there turning that one side may feel harder to the touch than the other |

It's a 04 and on the front, I'll try and get a photo of my Haynes book to show the bolts I'm talking about. Anything this is with the front wheel off the ground, there is also a bit of brake noise as you turned it before. Not sure after I've driven it for a bit today. Sorry for the lack of info, just been a busy day getting ready for graduation tomorrow. |
