LOST JEEPS :: View topic - Rear springs reccomendation

I am looking for some advice on lifting the rear of my Jeep. I have a bit if a compounded problem with this. 1st its a CRD. 2nd I use the jeep for towing. Most of what I have seen and read. Says the Daystar the way to go for now. I don't want a spacer lift. I wan't the articulation and flex of a spring lift.

I'm looking to use the 2.5" Daystar pucks up front for now. With the idea of later swaping them out for spings when available.

In the back I want to go ahead and change the springs. But need something that will not hinder its towing ability. I would like to get 3" of lift in the rear. Any Sugestions? Whose Spring's will not get too soggy under a trailer? Anyone else tow with the lifted Liberty?

At first I was thinking of going with skyjacker. But, (Not sure if this is true) I heared the Frankenlift was changed do to these springs sagging over time. With the trailer (about 4,000lbs) I think this will create more problems with this.

I need to call the guys at All J's and see if they will elaborate.

Anyone else tow with the lifted Liberty? OME Heavy duty springs with probably be a good choice. That is what is used in the rear of the Frankenlift now. They are progressive rate and don't sway. I would think most of the extra weight of the CRD is upfront so rear springs would be okay.

I tow with the Daystar spacer lift and it does a lot better than it did stock! But you already said you definitely don't want spacer... so have you looked at the Skyjacker coils? I would think the Daystar kit up front and Skyjacker coils in the rear would keep you pretty level. The CRD has about 100 extra pounds in the front (engine) and about 100 extra pounds in the middle (heavier tranny) so it's actually pretty evenly distributed. Anything you go with should work pretty well for you.

well, Skyjacker seems to have changed their spring rate some... Mine sits about an inch lower than others with Skyjacker springs. It does ride better, but with my trailer, the rear sinks quite a bit my trailer is an old wood and steel '74 pop up trailer that weighs about 2000lbs. It does not bottom out or anything, just sags the rear about an inch. wether this will cause the springs to sag w/o the trailer attached over time i dunno, only had the trailer on for a day so far and the springs in back for a month and a half.

I talked to Quinn today. Two reasions for the switch. 1st and primary, availability. Skyjacker does not just sell the springs loose. They had to go thru a third party suppler to get them. 2nd some people are reporting some sagging after a few years. Not all, but a few. He is recomending the OME HD rear springs part# 948 for my needs. So this is what I have ordered. Quinn has me setup with the Daystar front end kit, OME rear springs, Rancho's all around, and the bump stoppers. Quinn also told me OME is working on heavier springs fror the CRD. Should be out some time in '06. With this setup I will be running. All I will need is to chage the springs and spacer plate and I will have a Frankenlift. The Rancho struts are the same on both kits so I will not need to change them. Thanks for your help. Jason

Has anyone given any thought to adding air bags. I have seen it done just for trailer towing.
