Anybody have a picture of black soft 8's on a silver liberty? Might go that route. I want a wider stance, and don't want the hassle of the spidertrax.

I love them. I think they are the best looking off-road rim going. I run them on my '79 in 16x8 flavor.

I agree with commando. They are good looking, cheap, heavy duty and did I mention they look good. Chrome never belongs on a jeep. Black all the way. 8)

Something that doesn't look like it belongs on a police car, or a kia that has lost a hubcap. In all seriousness you guys nailed it on the head, cheap. The look cheap to me, they look like the base model car with steel wheels thats lost its hubcap. To me they scream "I DONT CARE WHAT MY JEEP LOOKS LIKE SO I BOUGHT THESE UGLY CHEAP LOOKING WHEELS"

Yea, I don't really care for them either. And yes, it looks like someone lost a hubcap. That doesn't mean I want the latest bling with wheels that keep spinning when I stop, I just don't care for the plain black 'winter' wheel look. I simply prefer the aluminum wheels that came with the jeep. I just wish they came in a 15" and that's the only real draw I have to the soft 8s

Don't take this the wrong way, I am not trying to deter anyones thoughts here, or put anyone down, but arent these wheels getting used off road? Doesnt that put them at risk of being damaged? Would you use a Brand new Ferrari in a road race? No, because if it got damaged, I know I would be pretty p!$$ed. Point I am making, or trying to is that does it really make a whole lot of sense to spend a grip of cash on an off road rim, when the cheaper one does just fine? Plus, If you are really worried about what your wheels look like afterwards, you can have daily driver wheels that look good all the time, and have a little more DD friendly tire on them, Right? Just my thoughts.

Steel rims bend, and can often be repaired with a hammer. Alloy wheel will often break under conditions that would only bend a steel rim.

It is a taste issue, is all. Some people like big rims: I like big tires. Some people like "bling" while others know that chrome ( er, alloy) don't get you home. Spending big bucks so you can look better and often ending up with a lesser rim just doesn't make sense to me. Besides, a purposeful looking rim sets you off from the true mall rats who wouldn't dare rash their rims' finish.

If you think that the steel rims with center caps & chrome loug nuts isn't pretty enough, you wouldn't want to wheel your stuff anywhere near this region any way. They don't call it custom pinstripping for nothing. 8)

Yes it was a non answer - intentionally, rather than make this thread all about me and what I do and don't like I just elaborated about why I do not like the limp wrist 8. Like I said, its just my opinion, and its your vehicle so you do what you want, but it blows my mind why anyone would want to.

I am still waiting for a scan of the insert of the new tracker test drive.

Steel wheels are nice when thye get damage beads, 9/10 times you can beat them back into place with your hammer, or highlift jack.

Chrome is not an alloy, chrome is a finish on the product. I used to say that all the time when I was selling bikes, my boss would throw things at me if I said a bike was made of chrome. Nothing is made of chrome, it would be made of chromoly, which is a really heavy alloy. But it could be chrome dipped. which is the shiny stuff I try to get away from, looks good, jsut to dman annoying to keep clean.

If it's a financial thing, then doesn't it make more sense to use the wheels that came with the vehicle instead of laying out more cash to purchase extra wheels and an additional set of tires?

Personally, I'm not concerned about my alloy wheels getting scratched, and I doubt that Sir Sam is either. I use them the same way that I would use the steelies. It has nothing to do with me being worried over them getting damaged or scratched. And my choice of wheels certainly isn't based on someone's assumptions about my sexuality. I simply prefer the alloy's that came with the vehicle.

Sorry. I was just trying to make the "chrome won't get you home" saying apply to alloy wheels. Alloy just kinda ruins the rhyme.

I guess the reason there are 50 bijillion different rims out there is so that everyone can get what they like.

Yup, and at the end of the day thats what matters to you.

Just because I don't like them or see what you see in them, doesn't make them any lesser than what I like. Its your vehicle you do what you want to it, and be dammed what other people think. I don't buy and build my vehicles based on what others think of it.
