Post subject:  Rough Idle

My brother has an 04 and is experincing a rough idle. We have used the 3 step process for cleaning the injectors and fuel system out and still have a bit of roughness. Is there a solution for this.

Thanks,

Chris

any engine codes?

I had a rough idle, and got a code... one of my coils went bad. On the lib, each spark plug has its own coil pack

the 3.7L is an odd-fire V6, that's why the idle is a little rough. it sounds like it's surging, right, but the tach needle doesn't actually move?

I installed a set of Denso Iridium plugs, now the Libby idles better than new. I had a roung idle with a set of Chamions and Bosh +4's.

Question- what is an "odd-fire V6"? Also, Winkel, were the +4s a decent plug? I'm putting a set in this weekend.

an odd fire V6 (at least this is how i've always understood it) has two cylinders that fire at the same, or close to the same time, thus makin a "rough spot" in the idle.

I liked the Bosch +4's alot, but the truck does run better with the Denso's. They are also double the price of the Bosch. I replaced them with 60,000 miles and they still looked good.
