Is it better to pull somebody out while backing up in reverse or to pull them out going forward in low gear and why?

You should always try to pull somebody out,if using a strap,by pulling from the rear of your KJ,if at all possible. The reason is from how the gears are cut in your diffs they are much stronger when going forward then in reverse, the second reason is if you have a '03+ KJ with the 42RLE tranny your 1st gear is 2.84:1 and your reverse gear is only like 2.1:1.It doesn't really matter with the 45RFE or 545RFE(CRD's) since 1st and "R" is 3:1.

Two years ago at Christmas i came apon a youn girl in a H2 stuck in a ditch in snow . I asked her if she needed a hand and she said her husband was on his way (so i waited) He came and got in the H2 saying " Its a Hummer it will make it out " . He puts it in gear and gives it to her ,as it almost tips over i hooked my strap to it and pulled it out. as i was getting my strap back i said the Hummer would have gotten out if you knew how to drive. NO THANKS NOTHING.
