And without it's own exhaust piped back up it's nose, it'll breathe a lot easier too. Especially if you use Castrol as a fuel system lube. Beans, ..y'know. Them dam beans...

Washed the outside, sprayed off the engine compartment, and added a quart of oil, plus a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil to the crankcase.

Marvel Mystery Oil has the smell of Mint or Spearmint. That is used to rejuvenate rubber parts.

Took her on the first real road trip. 920 miles round trip to visit the grandparents in Chesapeake, VA for the holiday. Averaged 25 mpg. Not bad for no tune. Was loving that torque for overtaking

Got Stage 1 of the Week's kit in today. Ran out of daylight, so Stage 2 will have to wait for a suitably-warm and -dry weekend.

It wasn't done today, and I sent it out to a shop to have (some of) the work done... But here's what's happened recently:

Me: finally got the Stage 2 Weeks Kit installed. Now have a boxful of EGR hard parts that will be included with the KJ if we ever sell it.

Shop: repaired the pinion seal leak on the rear axle, took care of the fuel leak at the feed line to the fuel rail, replaced the rotten airbox to turbo intake hose (found that after it went in), repaired exhaust leak, replaced shot O-rings on the #4 injector.

It wasn't cheap and I wasn't happy with their communication... But it's driving much better now than it has since we got it last October. EVIC fuel economy is hovering around 25.5mpg vs. 21.5 previously. We all know that the EVIC is best described as overly-optimistic, but I'm looking forward to seeing what that translates out to in real numbers at the next fill-up.

This is true, but as long as tires or gearing doesn't change, it still is still useful as a basis for comparison. Relative improvement is still improvement no matter what the specific true values are.

I installed my new cooper tires, and went out to test them. So far, I like the handling of these Discoverer A/T3's. Road noise is minimal also.

I was happy with the Cooper A/T3’s I had before lifting and going to larger Duratracs. The Coopers are a good handling tire on dry, wet, snow, and dirt. I think you’ll like them and they will serve you well. They are quiet, comfortable, and don’t decrease your gas mileage.

I find them better than most on everything road-wise exc clay/mud and solid ice. No rocks to crawl within hundreds of miles, so no idea about that.
Really good tires for the price.

Over the past couple of days:

- Swapped the CRD airbox for one from a 2002 V6. Throttle response seems a little sharper, but the butt dyno says that performance is about the same.

- Replaced the dead (lasted a whole six months!) Hayden 2905 fan clutch with a Hayden 2986 and GM 11-blade fan.

- As part of tracking down an air leak, the brake booster check valve was replaced with an OEM unit. Didn't stop the air leak, but the pedal does feel a little nicer.

Installed the dock and antenna for my XM radio. No pics; they'd be boring, anyway.
