so i got this front hitch in the other day for a YJ/TJ. thinking it was for one of them, i thought iasnt gonna fir, but i was wrong. it took a buddy of mine and me about an hour to take and install everything. had to drill 2 hole in the frame (so called) for the rear holes of the hitch. but other then that from left to right the holes fit well. but i did have to hack the hell out of the bumper, but oh well.

How much did that run you?

jsc7002, my rear hitch only uses two bolts, and I think every other front hitch out there only uses two as well. The only thing I would have done different is use some flat bar stock inside the frame to spread out the forces better. The washers may hold ok, but it still focuses the force in a fairly small spot. A nice wide adn fairly thick (maybe 1/4") piece of bar stock would do a better job in my opinion.

I like hearing that a yj/tj front hitch will fit, even with slight modification.

ya i ran a rear hitch for a little while that only used 2 bolts on each side but for a front hitch like that especially since there isnt a flat bar to spread the weight some and its just better to use more, like my front bumper im adding a hitch but im also adding another 4 bolts bc i want to be 110% positive that it will hold up to whatever i do to it

plus its just better to be overly safe than some-what safe

Great news that a YJ/TJ hitch will work! Been looking for a front hitch for awhile and they've been discontinued for the KJ. Awesome find! My next mod!

As I recall, the front hitch I had on my KJ only used two bolts on either side with washers. And it was manufactured specifically for the KJ.

The one I got from Landy uses 3 per side. two 1/2" holes need to be drilled.

I just installed a draw-tie front hitch today and it uses 3 bolts per side. The hardware that came with it included 6 carriage bolts with 1/4 plates with square holes that keeps the carriage bolt from rotating in the frame rail as well as distribute the load. Makes for an easy install.

Twice the number of bolts that a stock recovery point has, with no "M" bolts looks good!

Landy's hitch came with a nut bar all three nuts were attatched and you slide it in the frame. Seemed to work really well last weekend

Looks pretty good. If someone didnt want to cut their bumper up that much they could cut those rings off and just use a shackle in the hitch.

Where did you pick it up? I like the loops it has on it, especially the locations.
