Found this story on another Jeep forum and figured thse who are familiar with Moab and the surrounding area would want to see it: Utah's famous Wall Arch collapses Having never been there I am saddened that I will never know the joy of seeing this formation, but there are others in the area that I hope one day to visit.

That is too bad. I have seen many pictures of it but never been there.....must be the start of Armageddon.....or however you spell it......gotta stock up on peanut butter and ammo....haha

I will bet there will be talk of a fiberglass retrofit.....haha

It's impossible to blame the ORV crowd.. The arch was worn down by Wind, little rain and gravity alone. It's pretty much how things go. This was not the first time a "arch" collapsed.

Sad news indeed, but there's probably going to be a new arch that becomes the tourist destination elsewhere.

I visted the park last summer, but forget my camera, guess I'll just have to remember.

These things are created by erosion, none of them are permanent. We're just lucky to catch glimpses of them in the middle of their erosion. Thankfull the geologic timescale is large enough for them to last for generations.

Don't try to preserve them, they are what they are, enjoy them while you can.

I hope that they don't try to fix it, it's part of nature, just let it die.

In colorado springs at Garden of the gods they are keeping up one formation with color matched cement. If you're looking at it from a normal distance you can tell, I think it's pathetic really, they only did it so that they wouldn't lose tourism to the site.
