Here's a writeup by the daughter of www.JeepTales.com founder, Greg. She claims to have gotten quite a nice improvement in MPG! Check it out... http://jeepinbyal.com/PDF_Files/K&N%20r ... 0Allie.pdf |

Quote: but at nearly 120 miles added to the range for one tank in a
Jeep on a road trip it will not take long to recoup your investment Sorry but I'm not believing that. |

To many variables... |

That's an improperly done test if I ever read one. |

IF you could truly get an extra 120 miles on a tank in a KJ (or Any Jeep) w/ ANY mod, EVERYONE would be doing it....including the Manufacturer! Sorry but anyone reading this thinking they will get anywhere near that kind of improvement from just an air filter mod is going to be real dissapointed. |

Cmon guys, its a 16 year old girl doing a write-up on an intake. I think she did a great job but I agree there so many things that can effect the outcome. Like moose said, idk why they added the fuel injector cleaner since that adds another variable. Maybe they should of done that before the test was done to make sure the fuel system was clean. The wind and change in altitude probably had a big role like its already been said also. A good way to do a test like that would be to keep the mileage over a given period of time if you drive the same route(to and from work??). Take the data before and after the mod then plot it on a graph. Now, if only she was 18. |

Sorry but anyone reading this thinking they will get anywhere near that kind of improvement from just an air filter mod is going to be real dissapointed. I did it and WOW is all I have to say...my KJ is now going zero to 60 in 3.2 seconds (I'm the envy of ZO6 Corvettes everywhere), it gets 42mpg and can smoke the tires with the locker(in 4WD). Oh, and girls flock to the Renegade now that it has a K&N FIPK..........so ummmm, JJ, you got filter that will fit on the end of my K&N tube? |

Gimme your dimensions Or K&N part number and I'm sure we can find one to fit. No problem w/ the actual write up and cool to see a teen doing so but the "test" procedure and results are lacking. I'm sure Her science teacher would agree w/ us. |

Ok, we need to give her credit for the write up, Test results? No Good. Will changing your air filter from a 12$ one to a 40$ change the performance on the KJ, maybe if we were all stock. but lets take a look at what we have... and I hope I dont insult anyone on this one. We lift our Kj's, change our gear ratios, some of us run DTL's, 31" tires, wheel spacers, add an extra 200 to 300 lb's if you change the bumpers, carry the gear in the back we need to survive out in the bush, roof racks, fog lights and Im leaving lots out, Now we are going to concern ourselves with gas milage? Or better yet , changing the air filter to a K&N. Gentlemen! Think about this. |

Who wants to buy my K&N filter And I do give the girl credit for the write up. Shows she is willing to try some new things. Now to perfect the results and testing procedures. |

i thought it was a pretty solid right up... and i agree that it does improve mpg. i was getting 18-19 stock and with a exhaust and K&N cold air i was getting 23-24 stock. now i'm only at 17 |
