Hi everyone, my 42RLE has problems, and the dealer quoted me $2900 to replace the tranny, and a tranny shop said about $2300 to do it. So I found a transmission in a wrecked 05 Liberty. Is there a way to determine if the 05 tranny recall has been performed on this transmission?

Summary:
ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS, SPORT UTILITY AND PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 42RLE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, THE CUP PLUG THAT RETAINS THE PARK PAWL ANCHOR SHAFT MAY BE IMPROPERLY INSTALLED. IF THE SHAFT MOVES OUT OF POSITION, THE VEHICLE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE 'PARK' POSITION.

If you can, run the VIN for the vehicle it came from on jeep.com. That will tell you whether the recall has been performed or not.

Grab the last eight digits of the VIN on the wrecked car and run it thru the Jeep site? Should show if the recall has been done or is still outstanding. Good luck.
