The latch on the sun visor seems backwards to me. The C faces forward, so if you want to unlatch it, you have to pull the visor down in front of you so the body of it will clear the C, and then push it forward to unlatch. That seemed unnecessarily cumbersome to me.

Solution - I got out a Torx screwdriver bit and unscrewed the single screw holding the latch. I repositioned the latch so the C faces towards me and put the screw back in. Now a simple jerk towards the rear unlatches the visor, and it doesn't matter if the visor is up or down when you do it. The C seems to have plenty of holding power this way, but if it wears to the point where it gives out, it will be simple to put it back the way it was.

The latch is off-center so after repositioning the visor is held about an inch farther forward and doesn't fit as nicely into the contours of the headliner. I don't give a hoot about such things, so my litmus test was how my wife reacted. She's the asthetics half of the team. I didn't tell her about it nor that I did it until after she drove it to work one day. She said she'd noticed the improvement and liked it much better this way. No mention of the fit. That means it was perfect IMHO. Very Happy

Wouldnt facing it the other way cause you to have to pull it towards you to open or move it, that would hit your head?

Right, it would cause you to pull it towards your head. Just like a lot of other car makers out there make you do it. Have owned/driven Honda, Toyota, Oldsmobile, Ford and they all pull towards you. Chrysler is the only one I've ever seen do it the other way. Had the choice of adapting the car to me or adapting myself to the car. I chose the later and have gotten used to it. You chose the former and it works for you. It's all good man... 8)

I share the same annoyance. What a great solution. Think I'll try it out tomorrow. Thanks for the tip! :D

In my '03 it's actually a plastic "spread" anchor instead of a screw holding the latch. You pry the inside spreader out with a small flathead and then pull the clip out of its hole.

You should be able to turn it around just the same though.

The reason that the sunvisor clip is backwards is to help in case the head impacts the visor durring an accident. That way, the visor can be released and not act as a hard point in which to increase the chances for injury during the event. You'd be suprised at how much the human body moves around when the KJ impacts something stationary at 30+ MPH.

I'm not saying you shouldn't switch the clip around (it bugs the daylights out of me also) I just want you to know why it's like that.

I saw a early development video of the KJ in a 30MPH frontal impact.... It was really scary. I've only been in one accident (I was rearended) so i know what it feels like, but OUCH!

I took the visor clips off, filed them down (to open up the notches) and installed them back in the original position. The visors slip in and out of their brackets now much easier. Problem solved. :D
