I ordered new handbrake levers for the rear drums, they where send to me cosing £28 or $55.
When they arrived they where not complete, I just got one part and not the little metal plate that fits on to it.

I called and was told that that is a seperate part and has to be ordered seperate and the left one will cost £14 or $25 and the right one £28 or $55.

We are talking about two metal plates the size of a thumb here.

Wy did they not tell me that they come seperatly even after I explained exactly what i need?
Why are 2 identical pars priced one 100% above the other?
Why the hell do I have to pay $135 for a 2 cents piece of metal.

Jeep dealers are just taking the piss, you can not get these parts anyhere else over here and they know that.

Can't wait to get rid of my KJ, I love the car but hate everthing Jeep company related.

Hey Dutchy take it easy, we all feel the pain of those known as Stealerships. Did you check your local junk/salvage yard?

Sounds like something a metal shop could reproduce for less.

There are no Jeeps on the junk yard, KJ's are so rare in Scotland that you struggle to see one driving let alone find one on a junk yard.

I think Scottish people are smart enough to stay away from Jeeps as the dealers are overpriced, incompetent and rude and parts are extremely expensive and hard to come by.

I'm frustrated like hell and if I did not like my KJ so much I would have driven it into a wall a long time ago.

Dutchy What about ordering over the internet? Would it still cost so much? To charge that much is just plain ridiculous! They should be covered in tar and feathers and run out of town!!

It's much cheaper to get parts from the US but not everybody sends them out to the UK.
I have calmed down a bit now, still totally pissed of with Jeep though but I will have to take the brakes apart, de-rust the levers with a grinder again (every 8 months now) and grease them up and fit them and do it all over in 8 Months time.

...and yes, Landrover dealers are crap too but at least the parts are easy to get and dirt cheap over here.

Jeep dealers and parts are the most expensive of all brands over here, a Kj is as expensive to maintain as a RangeRover V8.

I'm going to try plumbers grease, it is water and heat resistant as the high temp grease (copper coloured) brake grease does not do the trick.
