| Post subject: | Spare tire |
Hi I have tried to find the answer but can't. Is there a way to relocate the spare tire a few inches higher? It interferes with my hitch and it's a pain in the neck to hook up my boat. Thanks |

Just take the carrier off the door and flip it over. It worked for me and my trailers. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... ht=#381054 |

or get a longer hitch, they make different lengths some will allow you to hook up without no problems |

It all depends on what works best for you and where your check book is at. If you could use the extra clearance then getting a hitch extension works for you but the cheaper way to go is flip the tire carrier. I’d flip the carrier, being that I have plenty of clearance for the boat trailer. FYI: Careful when flipping the carrier, those bolts/nuts are sometimes a bit stubborn to come off. |

If pulling a trailer I would not use that type of extension, they make longer hitches , the extensions are only good for hauling bikes etc |

I did the tire carrier flip with a few SS washers to push it out for better window clearance. Also you can get an Attwood coupler for your trailer it does not have the long flip up lever like the cheap ones it has about 2" less height. http://www.rvpartscenter.com/prodselect ... 18&CID=201 |
