I went to the dealership today to find out what parts I needed to add a mechanical fan, fan shroud, fan shaft, etc. Here’s the problem, the computer listed several different parts but did not identify which parts would fit which years. The parts guy said that I needed to find a VIN number from one of you LOST members who has a 2007 KJ with the tow package, then we could punch in your VIN number and the computer would show exactly which tow package parts I would need. So, I would greatly appreciate anyone who would like to PM me your VIN number on your 2007 model with the tow package. THANK YOU! |

Correct, also known as 82206937 when using the search engine. If anyone is serious, then I can give you the name of the online dealer who I ordered it from. I paid 10% over cost which is a pretty good deal. |

I was asked to provide the link to the place where I purchased my Heavy Duty Cooling Fan Kit. http://bbjeep2.stores.yahoo.net/jeeplibheavd.html This particular website lists the part number under the 2002 - 2003 Liberty which is not true, so ignore the model years listed in the link and keep with the true part number. This part # does align with the 2006-2007 models. Item # 82208909 - 2004-2005 Liberty Item # 82206937 - 2006-2007 Liberty |

My liberty was overheating, and I took it into the local jeep dealership and they said the electric fan is shot. The price for them to replace it is over $600 (they said most of that cost is in the parts). Do I need this whole kit, or can I just find the fan somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thanks! (Part numbers, etc would help! Oh, I have local by me: checkers, Auto Zone and Nappa) JP |

The electric fan alone is over $300,without the shroud. This HD cooling kits comes with a new electric fan, shroud, and the mechanical fan for like $250.The HD cooling kit is cheaper then the electric fan alone. And no the HD kit electric fan will not work without the HD cooling shroud.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have the tow and offroad package, so already have the 2 fans and shroud, I just need to replace the electric fan alone. I went to checker auto, and they had just the fan that looks the same as the electric fan in the picture for the HD fan kit. wondering if I can just purchase the fan from them and use just it (or buy the whole HD kit and use just the electric fan portion from the kit)? |

jpsandberg wrote: Thanks for the quick reply. The electric fans from checkers, advance auto, auto zone will not bolt up in the KJ without modifying.Plus they do not move the same CFM as the OEM electric fan, they have way less CFM's then OEM.The electric fans found at those places are universal AUX fans only.

I have the fan kit on mine had it installed by the dealer at time of purchase. Jeep has never had an overheating problem and I attribute that to the fan kit. |

i was just have this conversation today. im not getting why the two package would have two fans??? why not either an electric or a clutch driven?? i was thinking of adding a tow package but y not just add a relay and a switch so you could run the fan all the time when in tow mode and save the 250 buckes. |

Standard is the electric fan only,HD cooling adds the mechanical fan for added low speed cooling. If you do not have HD cooling you only get the electric fan,CRD's excluded.

Electric fan part #55037691AA This fan alone cost more than the HD fan kit. |

so from the only thing i can see is that the clutched fan may move alot more air then the electric. so adding a switch would basically have the same effect for a tow package |

I recommend buying the heavy-duty cooling kit and be done with it, that’s exactly what I did. The electric fan does most of the work until the engine get’s hot enough that it activates the mechanical fan to kick-in and really push the air. So basically, the two fans work together. Also, a mechanical fan is a nice backup in the event that the electric fan fails. |

my thinking was so that i wouldn't lose the HP by adding the clutched fan, not that 2-4 HP is a big deal but thought id keep as many as i can |

My KK did not have the tow package, but i want to add it on. I know i can do all the work my self.. I would recommend going to the dealership and having them pull the parts list so you know what part and part #’s you’ll need. Then go online and started shopping. |
