Post subject:  NAV system options

I have the NAV system and there is a screen labeled options. From there you can display a screen that shows GPS longitude and latitude info as well as an elevation. Mine constantly read "0" elevation. Has anyone else had this problem with their NAV system? It would be cool if the altimeter function worked even though I am in the flatlands of La. My Magellan Maestro has the same feature. Still got some warrenty time left.

My factory nav displays the altitude just fine. It refreshes every time it sweeps the satellites (about every 10 - 15 sec). I like the features of the after market ones a lot better though. You can program it to record total elevation gained or lost on a trail. Kinda fun stuff to look at sometimes.

Yeah the aftermarket gps units are a bit more versatile. By the way the magellan maestro's pretty much rock, especially if you tweak them.

Anybody else had time to check out their elevation option on the NAV system? What could I check on mine to get this function working? The map functions work fine so I think the GPS antenna(wherever it is) is okay. As stated earlier, it always reads "0". Could something be unplugged or could the GPS be experiencing some interference in the cockpit?
When I bought this Liberty 3 weeks ago, the NAV disk was missing so dealer provided a new one. Could there be some kind of disconnect with not having the original disk?

Mine works fine, but I have the original disk. Copies seem to give the system trouble. If you have a burned disk, you may experience issues. Mine refreshes every few seconds 8 - 10 as I'm driving.

Try taking the disk out and putting it back in. Kind of like re-booting your computer.

You could always buy a new disk for a few hundred dollars  or just buy a new Garmin.

I'm not sure the disk has anything to do with the elevation option, this should all be GPS-driven. I think the disk just contains all the POI info. I could be wrong but I'll give disk out/ disk in suggestion a try and see what happens.
