I did the laminate option, on my 08 GTI, earlier this year... actually turned out reeeeally good. Although, the VHT spray is still the best option. I'm guessing they're probably sending you the same kind of laminate/tint sheets? If so, it will take you quite a while if you've never done it before. My first time took 2 hours for one light, but every other time, maybe 10 minutes for each light.

I tihink though, that the Lib lights are pretty curvy, and hence, hard to smooth out tint material. Good luck, if that's what you ordered.

The VHT Nite Shades is great stuff easy to use, just clean up the lights real well, and spray on a few light coats

 Ahhh man.... best of luck. Those KJ lights aren't exactly flat. You get to basically heat up the laminate, and shape it yourself... all while keeping it well moistened with soapy water, and clearing all the bubbles out. I suggest clearing your afternoon of anything important, a heat gun/blow dryer, a big bucket of soap and water, a couple rags, and some scotch tape.

Oh, and a cursing jar.

Here's one of my most recent examples:
Image
This is what it looks like with just the first one done. This one took me almost 2 hours because the temp dropped suddenly outside. I can't stress enough that you'll want a garage, or very warm weather to get these to be pliable.
Image
This is the finished product. The other big taillight took only 45mins, while the two inner ones took maybe 10min each. The flatter the surface, the easier it is to persuade the laminate into shape.

Did the guy in the video have a faux-hawk? Or maybe a beard and liked to yell?
