Alright the time has come to paint the front grill & tailight guard, the chrome paint on them is oxidizing and looks funky, plus I think the chrome looks horrible. So, next week *payday* I'm going to get some paint and do the deed on them. At first I was thinking a crimson red, but my wife said no, and I'm whipped  so red is gone.

I'm thinking now maybe dark grey (bedliner?) , or a teal? gimme input so I can run it past master.

heres my grill now

They make bedliner that can match the color of your jeep, that is what I would do. That or black.

dang I would trade you my patriot blue one if I didn't already cut holes in it for my winch cables. I'm still loking for a chrome one.

Chrome is bad JJ. Why you looking for a chrome one anyway?

To the OP, I'd definitely go with something like 03kjsport has.

Yep I'd go with grey or anthracite. 03kjsport, that's looking great. Now I'm wondering what that would look like on a white sport.....

Xodius! I have an 03 that it will fit on and I have posted in wanted section in past looking for one. PM me a stellar deal on it and maybe we can work something out?

To OP, black would probably look ok.

Nah you wouldn't want this one, you cant see it in the photo but the left side the paint is starting to kinda rust away, looks bad. I've never been into the chrome thing anyway. I'm a flat color guy, black, green, tan, you know... real jeep colors

Horizontal red and white stripes. BTW, why are you letting your wife dictate to you on something like this? Guys, i think it's time we revoked his membership in the Man Club.

For me, chrome only looked good on the lighter color KJ's. [Like mine for example]. With a ligher paint color like Silver, the chrome blends pretty nice and isn't so bling, bling... On the dark color KJ's the chrome is a little too over the top.

This picture is from 2007

I still have my factory silver grille if you want to switch from chrome to silver. It would save the trouble of painting over chrome and then sanding and baking the paint.

It was removed from my Liberty back in 2004? and has been in the garage rafters ever since. I'd be willing to part with it for shipping costs... That is, if you were interested in going with another bright color / I think I"d go with a dark charcoal grille if I could find one.

(PM me if interested)

Sand it and bedline the thing. You won't ever have to worry about rock chips again. Look at my avatar, its bedlined and painted charcoal grey. If you need a better pic let me know.

thats the way I'm leaning, i saw some bedliner in an aerosol can at advanced today. The color said grey, I don't want to spent $40 on the small can of bedliner if this works. anyone have an experience???

I've never used, but I've seen the results, and it looks great. However it is no where near as strong as a roll on liner, and far below the quality of a linex style spray on. Looks good rhough and IMHO is strong enough for the grill.

If you want to see some examples of it on a grill go to jk-forum.com and search for bedlined grill. There is a good thread there with pics. I'd shoot the link bit I'm on the mobile right now.

ramlebliberty if you had grey bumbers like 03kjsport I'd go with that his looks really sharp, but it wouldn't look right with your blue bumbers. Some type of silver or black would stand out and look good.
