My laptops sit on the seat or on the floor ... I have no need to "use" them while driving. For continuous car-computing uses you'd be much better off installing your own carputer in the trunk and running the VGA cable to the console. Plus, there are other small form factor PC's you can mount on the dash easily these days. The Eee PC and Nokia tablets come to mind. Or, go with a single-board beagleboard and run everything off of five volts
