I've got almost 13,000 miles on my KJ now. When I shift from park to drive...there is a squeak/squeal/scrape noise coming from the shifter mechanism. It's hard to explain, but it's really annoying. It sounds to me like something needs to be lubed up. It sounds like the plastic bezel pieces are rubbing or something. Truth is I'm really not sure what it is. Therefore I don't know what area to take apart and lubricate. Heck, I don't even know if lube is the problem. Has anyone else experienced this?? Noisy shifters?? |

Mine (40,000 miles) has never had a problem with the transmission / shifter systems. You should take it in to the dealer if it's under warranty because that doesn't sound normal at all. Plastic grinding could be: Shifter Shifter Cable Shifter to Trans connection Electronics To inspect the shifter, you can just pull up on the PRNDL bezel that surounds the shifter. |

We all love peanut butter as our first mod. PRNDL = Park, Neutral, Drive & Low (just for clarity) |

that top cover just pops off, take a look under there, the plastic piece that moves with the shifter likes to make noise when theres dirt or crums in there, I discoverd that when i was installing my new cb on the center console, i cleaned it and its quiet. |
