My KJs heater won't blow hot air until its moving. Then when you stop it goes back to blowing cold air. could this be a coolant issue?

Hope this isn’t your issue in you Liberty but when this happened to my Montero it was a cracked cylinder head.
It could be a stuck thermostat.

have you ever replaced the thermostat on your KJ? how many miles does it have? I just replaced mine a couple months ago and its easy and a cheaper part, kind of expensive compared to other thermostats I paid $15 for mine

Checking the level of the coolant is a great place to start.

Could be a cracked rad..

The way I found out it was a cracked head was I could smell the sweet smell of coolant. It has a very distinct smell. We took it apart after checking everything else.
I’d start with checking the fluid level, thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, hoses, pump… the cracked head would be a last resort.

A little over 100,000 miles, Have not changed the thermostat. Did add some fluid and it seems to be working for now. Thank you everyone. :)

I would flush the system, change the thermostat and radiator cap and hoses.

How hard is it to change the Thermostat?

not very you just need to remove the two bolts and the thermostat will come out and put the new one in and bolt back up and top off with coolant, you will lose some coolant
