through the grill under the hood to grand mothers place it goes.

actually it just runs into the passenger side floor where it is plugged into an inverter - inverter plugged into the cigarette lighter

An Inverter!

I've been looking around trying to find battery powered lights with no luck. I've got an inverter sitting in the back of the KJ for when I need to charge camera batteries on the go. Never thought to use that!
