ATXKJ, Thanks for the post. I LOVE it and it is a real head turner. I get comments from Rene owners all the time saying they love the rack and where they can get one. The rack is a BEAST as Troy says. I got mine with the 4 light tabs and the center CB tab. In the re-post by ATXKJ you will see how i installed it. Here is the final product after almost a year on the KJ.
The ONLY thing I found with it is that the Light tabs are in a position that makes using the sunroof "Vent" feature impossible to open all the way. IF you have a sunroof, then Get Marty to weld on the light tabs on the INSIDE of the rack. If no sunroof, ROCK AND ROLL and have fun. I ran 8 12 guage wires and a coax through the inside (very tight fit) . I have some high amp drawing lights up there so I used 12 ga. over kill but what the hell. Ask Marty to build it the way he did mine. He predrilled the hole where the cross bar and rails meet BEFORE he welded them together so all I had to do was drill the holes behind the tabs and in the mounting foot and fish the wires. NOT AN EASY JOB, but worth the work. I toyed with the idea of getting two light tabs on the back for back-up lights. Actually had Marty send them and looked at adding them myself. I was concerned about clearance issues and on the rear and I didn't want to drill any more holes in my roof, so I opted out of those. Wish I had put them on now. Tinted windows makes backing at night a real witch, but.... Anyway, GET THE RACK AND ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!! |

I keep looking at them and thinking I like it ...to a point, like the lights but then if I put the lights on I could not haul extension ladders etc , may have to get one and modify it with some top cross bars or something Troy or Woodys how far is it from the bottom of the front bar where the lights mount to the roof, I know theres a curve there in the roof but the measurement right in the middle say? I have some money that I have to spend with Marty but roof rack or rear bumper? |

tom, At the center, INSIDE the front cross bar, from the roof to the bottom of the round bar is approximately 3/4". It is a close fit and that is, IMHO, what makes ths rack look so good. It just looks well engineered and designed to fit the KJ and not 30 other vehicles. |

And if you want a more streamlined rack w/o the large side hoops, you have this option from RL as well.

both racks use the same base, the difference in them is due to the low profile roof rails angling to follow the roof vs the other rack the rail goes straight up to create the side of the rack. |

I prefer the low profile and may end up having something built that resembles it and place my spare up there. I like the streamline look. I think I'd rather actually do that then have a rear swing away built. |
