Post subject:  cylinder misfire and strange noise

I am getting the code for #6 cylinder misfire and hear an intermittent tink noise coming from somewhere under the hood..seems almost like its under my feet but hard to tell from inside the car... the noise happens when in idle or driving which i not doing since this started. I am going to take it to be service, but does anyone know what that noise is?

Move the coil pack to another plug and see if the missfire goes along with it (the coil pack.) If so, just change out the offending coil pack or change all of the coil packs out if you can afford it.

Might be a good idea to change the plugs while you are working in that area of the engine

A "tink" noise could be lots of things. Loose heat shield on a catalyist, rocker that is clicking or even just a pebble in the fan shroud.

Also to add to this comment, check for loose plugs. I have had this happen before.

May shound strange but it can happen.

Just recently had this issue come up with my Lib....
I had misfires on #2 & #6, Turns out the rocker arms came loose, and were banging around in there.
Took it to a local mechanic. 3 hours shop time to diagnose and repair. Not too bad when the noises we
heard led some to believe the engine was shot. Good luck.

I too, have this same issue. I got a code 302 (Cyulinder #2 Misfire) I replaced all The Plugs and The # 2 cylinder coil pack - Same thing. Still got the tinging noise and a flashing engine light. Any insight on this will be appreciated. My next step is probably to take it to my local mechanic and have that rocker arm looked at. Any suugestions or comments are appreciated. I look forward to hearing them asap, cause I am at a loss which direction to go from here.
Thanks
