Post subject: | Tire Pressure Monitoring System |
Hi: Today on the way home the amber tire pressure monitoring light in the dash went on. Also in the overhead counsel the display read "Check TPM System" for a few minutes. I went to the tire pressure screen and noticed there was no reading for the right front tire. The tire is not flat - so what do you think is the problem? I'm hoping it's the tire sensor. The reason I think it the sensor is that the other tires show up on the display with pressure readings. What do you think - is it the wheel sensor? How much will it cost to have it repaired (unless it's simple to repair myself)? Thanks; Ken |

If it is still there after starting and stopping the Jeep I would rotate the tires and see what happens. If it follows the tire its a good guess to say the sensor may be bad. If it doesnt follow the tire you may have other issues. |

It is most likely a dead sensor |

For what ever reason it's working again. The KJ sat for a few hours and now we're back to normal. Should it return I'll need to do the "will the fault follow the tire" game. Thanks; Ken |

Whenever it happens again, don't change a sensor right away. These things are very sensitive, and they usually start working again on their own within a day or two. If you live where the temperature drops below freezing, there is a good chance that the problem is temperature related. I have experienced it a few times myself, and it always corrects itself eventually. |

You said "the tire is not flat" but you didn't say you checked the pressure and found it to be... ![]() |
