Alright, so after not being able to use my CB for a little over a year, due to still trying to figure out how to run that stupid coax, I have decided to go the route that several of you have said to try.

The antenna will be attached to my blackwidow roof rack and the coax will be run down the DriLLeD hole in my Roof Lights.
So I guess my big question is, how do I keep it waterproof?

I have heard of "USE A crap LOAD OF SILICONE" but I was wondering if there was a way that I could use a grommet some how in addition to the silicone around the edge, but I want to be able to remove the coax without destroying the seal.

Yeah, so I need help!

***Oh and a side note, the Cobra 75 WX/ST picked up the weather scanner, on Channel 2, without having a coax & antenna attached. STONG RADAR I GUESS***

Receiving is not a problem. Transmitting without a properly tuned antenna will burn up the CB.

Don't drive in the rain.

I think you need o do a bit more research on this. It sounds like, in my opinion, just gonna dive into this and start drilling holes. There are ways to run the coax WITHOUT drilling and still get a good signal AFTER tuning.

do you have a OEM lightbar? If so it's possible to run the coax through the pre-existing gromet that the lightbar wires run through and down the passenger side support, you'd have to have coax that wasn't terminated on one end though

Why do all of that just buy a roof mount, drop the headliner down, drill through the roof and install the antenna, coax fastens to the bottom of the antenna so it is inside already then, its sealed by the rubber grommet on the bottom of the antenna, no problems, works great done it before

that's pretty much what it boils down to with the oem lightbar, he can just use the hole thats already been drilled

But why run wires across the roof? or down that hole under the lightbar, get the right antenna and drill one hole, antenna goes into that hole, wires connect underneath, done, simple, you're trying to make it way harder than it has to be

If you are going to mount your antenna through the roof you should seriously get one made to do so. Otherwise you are asking for leaks. Remove the headliner, drill from the roof down through the ceiling.

Well, I have tried out the back glass, water flooded the entire cargo area... and I mean flooded. If Ihad had my camera, I would have taken pics, but trust me, it was about 2 inches of water. I had to take all of the plastic off the sides an it was just a huge mess. So I want to go with something that works and that has been prooven that it works too!

I also had a cellular phone antenna that I stupidly ran inbetween the top of the driver door and the weather stripping... yeah well, I have a thru-the-glass cell phone antenna now because I had not read anything on here about how the pinching would cause it to tear.

So you could say I am tired of trying things that I think might work, and won't to see what you L.O.S.T. exerts know...becaue there are quite a few more heads here, than my lonely self!!!
Thanks!

I have done 5 roof mounts on various trucks and Jeeps, last one my Cherokee ( drill a hole insert antenna, bolt down connect wire underneath and done, works great no leaks, no water running in seals etc ) great way to go IMO

My point is that you need to look into ALL of the alternatives. And then DO IT RIGHT like Tomm says.

Trough the roof mounts work great and do not leak if installed correctly AND the integrity of the mount is NOT compromised by anything hitting the antenna hard and low close to the mounting post (like a low tree limb).

BUT you are married to the mount. I have ALWAYS (untill the new cell phones cam out) had a center of the roof cell antenna and Alway installed myself and NEVER had a leak. (Roof mounted Cell phones in all 5 XJ's)

Anyway, I was not criticizing just warning you to make sure that is what you want to do and do it right. DON'T SKIMP!!!!

These guys have good stuff.
