Is there anything special I need to get?

you need the rivets, i can't recall the part number, but they are available at napa. They come out simple, use a small phillips screwdriver to push the center in, pry the rest of the old rivet out. You will break a bunch of you're old ones. Aside from that you don't need any special tools.

Shak, I love the way your all blacked out sport looks, the clear signals look great, i may have to look into the renegade conversion...

Will the older flares/bumpers fit a newer renegade? I like the black better than the plastic

I doubt it...the older (02-04) flares I believe only fit the older versions. Also as I have seen in the pictures the newer renegades have the textured (similar to sports) flares. I believe if you have those and paint them, they look retarded and also paint gets chipped very easily as the flares get exposed to cold, heat or just from daily driving.

ManicMechanicJoe, thanks...... i have been wanting to do this project since the day i got the car because i didn't enjoy the looks of the sport and finally i did it when i got in a wreck. I think the whole thing (including a back bumper, flares and paint and labor) cost me something like $600-700 but i was able to get some of my money back by selling the flares and hopefully the back bumper.

Got my flares today! :D They are primed ready for paint. I am tempted to put them on without painting them, they are dark grey in color, what do you guy's think?

I personally love the glossy look! cant deal with the texture crap they put on the sport but again its entirely up to you since its your ride

I got the flares straight through dealership part number 82208159 for 275 dollars and a rear bumper through ebay such as
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-Jeep-Liberty-Limited-OEM-Factory-Stock-Rear-Bumper_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33640QQitemZ8025788754QQrdZ1
for less than 100 dollars.
I got an ARB for the front but if you like the renegade look, search around ebay for the renegade front bumpers too.
Finally i took everything to my trusted autobody guy and he charged me 400 to paint everything and get rid of the bumps and dings in the rear bumper.....400 is a little too pricy but compared to the nice job he did, i think its worth the money
I also got the light bar last year off ebay for 360 and paid someone 100 bucks to put it on for me......
For a little bit more or less than 1000 dollars you can easily change the sporty look (which i hated) into a tough looking renegade.....Im also in process of getting the renegade roof basket
