Wow, I've been away for awhile....come back to a long term review/post of my OTT setup that certain members promised would fail in a month, but were proven wrong and I get LOCKED!

Why not just make it clear that on LOST there will be NO discussing any other lifts than Frankenlift or OME?
Afterall, no other lift can or will work, regardless of reality. (and we want to sell only these brands)

If you don't tow the line around here and book-lick the "right folks" you'll get your thread locked!

This post will surely be next:
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... highlight=

Lesson learned:

If you want to post real-worl experiences about a lift that has worked perfectly well for a KJ that is mostly driven on forest roads and moderate BLM trails, forget it.

Looks like that Obama change crap is taking hold....

...ever wonder why our land is getting locked up from OHV use, that "Wilderness" areas are expanding, that funds for keeping our land open for our use are being hijacked. Now ain't the time to be petty.

Considering what is going on in the world these days it does seem kinda petty to be so bothered by what happens on a Jeep forum now doesn't it?

This thread makes no sense.

I agree, michael dba, but found its not worth letting those things get to you, i have a ott lift with the correct bumpstops and shocks, for some mild offroading, did it mainly for clearance, yeah the front stock springs sag a little, but all in all i'm happy with it and not afraid to go offroad. I'm still sticking around now and then, but wont post anything about my liberty anymore, i stick to my region on here. Remember, its just a forum, pick & choose as you please.

I am going to disagree with you dba. This type of stuff happens every winter. People get trapped inside and then let their mouths...or fingers get them into trouble by insulting people and their decisions, posting political or religious views, and/or putting up non-family friendly stuff (i.e. porn or rated X stuff).

This is mainly a Jeep site (with the openness of other 4x4 talk and some ability to go off-topic) and that is why the listed above is kept to a minimum as much as possible. If people can't have a mature discussion on differing opinions, then they don't need to talk about it at all on here. They can go take it offline or start their own forum.

I don't know what post you are mentioning, but there had to be a reason beyond you posting your mature opinion on OTT's and discussing in a mature fashion other people's opinion of the OTT. Is it possible that one of the admins/mods went a little too far with their locking power? Possibly. That is why you should bring it up in a mature fashion to ask what was wrong and then the admins and mods can discuss. Your post here is not the mature way to bring it up to the admins/mods.

If you read the thread you started concerning your experience with your OTT lift, you should see exactly why it was locked. There was not a problem with your thread, or any of your posts in the first few pages, however the members who did get the thread locked towards the end were being rude and immature.

The thread you link to in this post stands no chance of getting locked in its current form since all members involved were being well behaved except for a few comments that were made today.

A thread being locked has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the opinions being addressed therein, or if your views happen to differ from the majority of the members of LOST. It will however get locked if the it degenerates into immaturity, vulgarity, personal attacks, or any violation of the "user's agreement".

This thread that you've started in which you are basically insulting LOST, it's Mods and Admins, and our impartiality and ability to do our job and manage this forum isn't locked, nor will it be (above paragraph notwithstanding). But on several other forums it would have been deleted and you would have been banned. I think that alone should be a testament enough about posting "Dissenting Opinions".

best to take such issues to PM with an appropriate admin or mod

it can often cause other members to start building discontent on someone elses behalf where it may or may not be deserved

i understand the frustration atleast..

i've pretty much stopped reading anything lift related due to the b.s. that goes back and forth in the threads and just PM my questions to someone knowledgeable that I trust

the whole lift info threads remind me of a old saying

opinions are like a-holes, everyones got one and some stink worse than others

i guess you could add some Work better than others to that saying as well and have it apply even better to the lifts

Guess I'm one of those so called supporters of the Frankinlift and OME lifts. Not really but given the choices they are the better lifts on the market for a KJ.Heck I don't even use either of those lifts,I run one that's been better and has lasted longer, sadly you can not buy it anymore.

Why we push those lifts over the spacer and OTT lifts is mostly due to saving YOU money in the long run, really so if you do not have the mechanical ability to do the lift yourself. Also another point is that spacer lifts will always be the 1st lifts available for any vehicle before the good lifts since spacer lifts are easy and the correct full coil lifts that will last and are quality stuff take more time to R&D then spacer lifts.

It isn't what is being said but how it is being said. People need to lighten up on the piling on, sarcastic comments and the know it all attitudes. It is getting old. Everyone should be able to post opinions without being railed on and their intelligence being questioned.

To some extent. But misinformation, some potentially harmful, needs to be called when it is presented. Not saying that this applies to the thread in question, but it does happen

I agree, but a little tact goes a long way. People need to realize they can inform others in a polite way without making someone feel stupid, talking down to them or questioning their intelligence.

It always starts that way until a few ( 2 or 3 ) start talking trash against people who have been there, done that and are just trying to help people out with good hard learned information, then it goes into a bunch of BS, if you notice this has only become a real problem in the past 6 to 8 months . We had disagreements before but we were all friends at the end of the day, atmosphere has changed a lot on here recently......................well I will stop for now

It is all in how the message is delivered Tom. People appreciate good info, they don't appreciate being made to look like an idiot or being talked down to and that is the way the majority of these start, not by someone coming on and talking trash out of nowhere.

My bad, I'll take it up with admin.

Just had to vent a little....

I've learned a lot about KJ's from this forum, and try to give some stuff I've learned back to it. I don't believe in posting just an opinion without being able to back it up.

If you're going to tell someone that some mod is no good, at least back it up with something honest and why it's no good.

We can all break just about ANYHTING on a KJ if we try hard enough.

Let's face it, there are about 4 major types of KJ owner:

1. Soccer mom
2. Likes a 4x4 but will never take it in the dirt
3. Daily driver who likes to go into the forest and BLM to explore remote areas (me)
4. Offroader who wheels his KJ with hardcore modified 4x4's on well-known tough trails

They all could do different mods, and not all mods will work the same for these drivers.

Must be a West coast thing.

Hey, ever explore around Hawthorne and Mina? I'm doing a trip there with an ATV group in April...lots of cool stuff tucked away in those hills.

A tiny little bit in Hawthorne with a friend but not Mina. Please let me know how it goes though. Always interested in exploring more.
