MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ONLY: What should be taken on the trail? I have seen some of these threads that have listed everything except the kitchen sink and that was listed as a possibility!:-) I don't want that kind of list. Just tools. No parts either. The bare necessities please. Terry |

People see things differently when it comes to necessity. What I think is essential might not be to someone else. I'd pick the stuff you feel most important and go from there. |

A lot depends on how mechanical you want to get as well, I know about every bolt/nut on the KJ so make sure I have a full set of those size wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, hammers etc. whatever someone may need to replace/ rebuild or repair. Also spare ujoints/fluids/belt/jumper cables/ on and on all depends really what all you want to carry |

Also spare ujoints/fluids/belt/jumper cables/ on and on all depends really what all you want to carry That is what I'm talking about. I know I wouldn't need every size, but which ones do I need? I think most of you know I can't physically do most repairs but I want to have the tools to fix stuff. It's bad enough to ask someone to fix something without saying "oh by the way, bring your own tools". I would feel much better if I had my own. Terry |

Several places sell nice plastic cases with a wide assortment of metric/standard wrenches/sockets etc.in them. Look around for one of them and you would have most anything you or anyone else may need to repair a KJ or CJ. Would not have to be top of the line Sears/Mac whatever just a good set that will work and not cost a fortune for you |

tjkj2002: That is a great list. The one thing I don't want to do is carry something that will never be used because of it's size. That would be just so much dead worthless weight. Kinda like my brain! ![]() Terry |

well i had to go buy an allen for my rear diff plug for the rockcrusher cause i didnt have one gigantic enough ![]() of course i got the socket instead of the actual tool, and i havent been able to find a ratchet that will fit between the tank and the socket since I don't have a lift it isn't angled down enough however i painted thhe cover after i put it on, which stopped the very slight seepage around the plug ![]() ![]() |

I thought the size needed to remove the front drive shafts was 36mm? And in Australia we can only get that size in 3/4" drive so we need a 3/4"-1/2" adaptor as well. Just out of interest, why carry so many different drive sizes? |

reducers have the tedancy to be convienent but can make the difference in getting a bolt out and running out of room in tight spaces, i'd be willing to bet he's got the reducers in that kit too, i tend to carry more wrenches than sockets and when i remember i throw the roll bag of snapon ratchetwrenches in too |

Besides the wheel bearings what else takes those torx sockets? |
