Look in junk yards for an old KJ.

I can't say when the bar was introduced, but I know for sure that the 2002 models do NOT have the bar. They get the cool trim piece.

no junk yards around me have a liberty, and from the research ive done it looks that 02-04s get the trim while 05-07 get the grab bar. I guess what im more worried about is weather or not it will fit my 06.

I can't speak for the Limiteds and Sport models, but my `04 Renegade has the COOL grip bar. I like it and I think it is a great add-on.

Also, My Intel bunny man (Matt- RIP) fits in-between it.

I'd trade you my grab bar for your trim strip.

That's a grab bar? I thought it was a place for my wife to put her feet and my son to use when he ties shoes.

Trust me when you are offroading both bars are needed for the passenger. The a pillar as well as the dash. I can't see why someone would "want" to get rid of the dash one but to each their own. When we ride around in the company trucks the dash bars are dearly missed once the offroading begins.

Does your grab bar have the airbag indicator built into it? Does the flat trim piece provide it also?

My grab bar has the airbag indicator in it.

Thats what she said!

They added the grab bar in 2004. It also houses the light for the Passenger side air bag.

can that trim piece just be swapped out for the bar?

i cannot trade any parts off mine because it is actually my wife's jeep and i just like it a lot. she has a restriction on me doing stuff to her jeep because i tear all our vehicles apart and mod them and she gets annoyed to come out one day and find something done. i pulled the whole top end off her bmw and put a new head on it when the timing belt broke and trashed it one time while she was out with her mom shopping. she was mad when she saw a thread on one of the bmw forums about it because i had pics of her leaving and had made little comments about how she was gone so i could start working and she would never know.

of course she knew though because she could drive her car again but she does not like modding on her vehicles.

my poor bmw is so torn apart and put back together modded that it wouldn't actually pass inspection for emissions if they really looked hard. i'm lucky because people her think everything is based off chevy time lines so my injected 82 bmw can pass with a carb since chevies were carbed at that time. a carb and long tube header with a glasspak
