Post subject:  Low Tire Pressure Light

So I get in the Libby yesterday morning - it's -5° and my low tire pressure light is on. I do a walk around and everything looks fine - so I drive to the nearest station to check the air. SEVENTY FIVE CENTS!!!??? Anyway - all the tires had 30lbs - I pumped em up to 35lbs and off I went. About a mile down the road the light went out. But since then it's come on and off several times. There's nothing wrong with the tire pressure - I'm thinking it's the darn cold weather! Anyone else experience this?

Also - just curious - does anyone know how this sensor works?

PS - It's the idiot light on the dash, not a reading from an EVIC (which I don't' have!).

could be the spare is low or teetering on the low threshold

i've had the same thing happen out here in NY the last few days. i pumped mine up to 34-35 psi, all 5 tires. i called the service dept. at the dealer and the guy said unfortunately this happens in the extreme cold cuz the tires loose pressure somehow. he also claimed that the spare indeed is read by the computer and will light up that idiot light if it goes low.

Mine did the same thing. I pumped mine up several more pounds and off the light went.

same here.. mine did that.. the colder temps your air pressure drops.. just add more air.. when it warms up you may get warning again stating high pressure.. just let some air out.. happened to me a few times

what a pain! And I just learned that it's a sensor on the back of the valve stem and we just pulled the stock wheels/tires off last night and mounted some eBay steel wheels with REVO'S which obviously don't have the sensor - so now I guess I'll have to deal with the light all winter cuz the server girl said each sensor is $50!!

Thanks for the replies :)

I have read that the sensors will not work with steel wheels

Post subject:  Check the spare...

I had the same thing happen with my 05 and it turned out to be the spare was a little low and haven't had the a problem since... Note: Difference here is I'm in AZ too so for what it's worth.

Blinking means that the spare is low.
