So I was trying to get up over a snow bank last night to get into my apartment complex, and I couldnt do it in 4hi, so naturally I went to put the kj in 4lo right? wrong. something happened and I have no idea what it was, but now she's stuck in 4hi and the shifter for 2hi-4hi-N-4lo moves freeley. I mean totally freely, no resistance at all, and I can neither hear nor feel it doing anything that it is supposed to in the t-case. I thought maybe I could let the jeep sit overnight and then drive a little this morning and it might work again, but alas no. When I went to put her in 4lo I was rolling at like 2-3 mph and had the tranny in N, just like I am supposed to. so what went wrong?

Does anybody have any idea what either I did wrong or what happened. And how would I fix it? I just hope my t-case isnt completely shot.

Thanks.

I't probably the cable disconnected. When the dealer replaced my dead transmission just outside the 36K warranty expiration, they forgot to connect the cable so when I got it back and went to try 4 wheel out it did nothing...5 minutes later the tech hooked it up right and I left.

The linkage is probably disconnected, pop your head under and see where it came off, reattach, problem solved.

Most likely this is your problem. Ive read about it happening a few times but Im not sure how you go about fixing it. Not sure if I read a follow up on the old threads that talked about it.

hahaha, sure wish I could let a jeep sit over night and it fix itself.

Just an update. I just got back from lunch, where i got up under the kj and had a look. and it is just the cable disconnected! :D I wasnt able to get it back on right tho, since i cant really jack her up safely in the lot or know for sure that i would have had enough time to actually fix it. And the cable is still in good condition, so i wont have to buy a new one.

Im gonna jack her up tonight and be ready for more snow tomarrow.

Thanks for your help all.
