The Hella 500's come from the factory with 55W halogen bulbs, however, Hella sels some replacements that are 100W Xenon units. Has anyone used these in their 500's if so, were there any issues, would you reccommend it, how much did it cost, etc. Pics or links appreciated. Thanks.

I don't believe the wiring can handle it. I can get you a nice set of HID's for cheap :D

Myke, thanks for being the first of like 65 people to say SOMETHING...what kind of HID's are you talking about and how cheap? I wouldn't be against replacing the wiring, what gauge do you think i would need?

Thanks,

Savage, if you really wanted to install the 100w bulbs in the hellas you'd probably want to go up to something like 12ga wire. Nice thing is the hella reflectors and lenses are made of glass so they can take a bit more heat. Hope it works out for ya.

Either one of these

I know the guy who owns the site, and he will give me them almost at cost.

I would be very interested in having HID's at cost. Do they come with the ballasts and bulbs and everything?

wow, i thik that even at cost it would be less expensive to just replace the wiring and get new bulbs...he probably pays almost, if not more than $100 for the H3 conversions that i would need for my Hellas and i'd need two pair, and a place to mount the ballast/igniters, etc. but if you want to look into it, i will definately take a look at the price...

Thanks,
