i think my alternator is going bad, when i accelerate i hear a whining, that increases pitch, with RPMs...but anyways, my question is can i swap out a renegade alternator with my own? Im assuming the computer would need to be adjusted via flash, but other than that is it a direct swap??

Have you checked your belts?
You may have a bad belt.
