Uh oh... my GF just finalized the deal on a brand new 2009 4 Door Unlimited Rubicon! After playing with my KJ in Moab and whatnot she said "I want something like that but a convertible." I told her that there's no sense in buying a Wrangler unless it's a Rubicon.... next thing you know... We're heading up to Idaho next week to pick it up... Sounds like I'm going to have to SFA the KJ just to keep up soon I'll post up some pics once I actually see the thing... |

Geez, that statement is a slap in the face to X drivers, don't you think? I hope your GF wheels the hell out of her new Rubi, doing some really tough trails in order to justify the extra $$$ she just spent. A X can get the job done almost as well. I just can't justify the extra money Jeep charges for the Rubi. Anyone really serious about wheeling could easily put on better tires, a lift and lockers for a lot less than what she paid for the Rubi and some of it's over priced features. My X with the stock 17" Rubi tires and rock rails, minus the lockers, dana 44 front axle and stiffer shocks for a lot less money....
Happy trails from a X Driver... |

Oh I agree completely... BUT... It's a lot less work for me to have her just buy a Rubi... because I know who would have to install all those goodies |

She wants to lift it already so we have a couple of deals worked out... RE has a special for their 3.5" kit for $500. She also agreed to buy me a tubing bender and a notcher if I built her bumpers and sliders... sounds good to me |

She also agreed to buy me a tubing bender and a notcher if I built her bumpers and sliders... sounds good to me RE's have been having a lot of issues with their JK kits. The Radius Arm style that they use just doesn't work well with the JK's. Some have had to have the bushings replaced under 1000 miles. IIRC the arm design was the one thing changed by MOPAR when the rebadged it as an OEM kit. Plan on 37's? |

Nah... 37's will gete her into WAAAAAAYYY more trouble than my KJ can bail her out of We're gonna wear down the stock tires first until she gets some trails under her belt. Guess more research needs to be done on the lift... no wonder the RE was cheap |

You know this opens the door for you to pick up a third Jeep, right? 'Honey, we can use it for...' or 'I need it in case...' Because with a second Jeep, they start calling to other Jeeps, inviting them to come over and stay. I know because I've been looking at a deal on a square-eyed stepchild (YJ) lately. You can also probably justify a tow-rig and trailer now too. |
